THE WHO: When surviving rock
bands of the ’608 go out on the
road, their shows generally turn
out to be exercises in nostalgia
designed to celebrate a legacy and
beef up the bank account. But
when Pete Townshend and Roger
Daltrey brought the Who around
last fall, they had something
different: their first new material
in more than two decades.
Audiences might be waiting for
the classics, but songs from the
recent Endless Wire album such
as the title track and Man in a
Purple Dress were potent
additions to their last outing,
which came to the BankAtlantic
Center in November. Most
important, the new songs turned
the band from an oldies jukebox
into an active, restless force. J ust
like the old days. The Who is
booked with Rose Hill Drive at 8
pm. Monday at Hard Rock Live, 1
Seminole Way, Hollywood.
Tickets $75-$350. Call Ticket-
master (561-966-3309, 954-
523-3309, 305-358-5885).
