City audience erupt at Who concert
BENEATH a banner urging member of Norwich Lads Club to “live pure, speak true, right wrongs and honour the Queen” the Who group — idols of the popular music scene — took the stage on Saturday and for over two hours drenched their audience in 2000 watts of power and 2000 watts of light.
Over 1000 people packed the Lad’s Club to see one of the biggest popular music events in Norwich for a long time.
It was third time luck for the University of East Anglia who staged the show, for originally they hoped to get the group to Norwich on October 28th. Then everything was lined up for October 17th, only for illness to hit lead singer Roger Daltrey and force a postponement.
“But on Saturday the Who finally made it. The group played all their best-known numbers and included in thier set about an hour of new material.”
It was something that should have happened in Norwich before — but it takes a tremendous amount of work. Four weeks of negotiation went into this.
She was also “overwhelmed by the friendliness and cooperation of the group
The Who may have taken their time in coming to Norwich but nobody who saw their performance on Saturday could have denied that it was worth the wait.
